| Black Country Towns, Cities & AreasImages of the various places that make up the Black Country both past and present.
Most areas would be included in The Black Country without dispute. Some areas are right on the boundaries. I've included Quinton because, as a Parish, prior to having it's own church, it came under Halesowen and was in the area known as Cakemore. As some of the areas of Cakemore are unquestionably part of the Black Country, I don't see how we can leave Quinton out. |

| Black Country Gob Roll of HonourBlack Country Gob is all about the region and the community spirit we are famous for. Noone has shown this better than those who have sacrificed their lives for others in the wars since 1914 right up to the present day. This Roll of honour is a dedication to those who fought and died and who stand as a reminder to us all just what the meaning of bravery and community spirit really is. The full list is located in the main group but where there are pictures available we have added them here also. |

| Black Country Days Out.In the days when having your own set of wheels probably meant having a bike and holiday was time off work, not a trip to the sea, or sunnier lands, the Black Country Day Out was a highlight of family life. Much of the Black Country had easy access to the cleaner air of the countryside and for the lucky ones in the Halesowen area, the Clent Hills were near enough to walk to, whereas, Stourport, Kinver and Bewdley were a bus ride away, or for the more energetic, a cycle ride.
Since the 1960's we tend to travel a bit further afield and some of those places that BC Folk like to spend their leisure time are included. |

| The River StourAlthough only a small and short river, being just 25 miles in length The River Stour had an important part in the development of industry in The Black Country. It's power was harnessed at various mills along its journey which starts in The Clent Hills and ends when it joins the mighty Severn at Stourport. |

| Walks by the CutThe canals were a vital part of our Ancestors lives. They are now mostly used for leisure today and are a lot cleaner than in the 19th and 20th Centuries |

| A Mile of Balloons. A Celebration of Hope 2008On Saturday 11th October 2008 Churches in Rowley Regis & Blackheath organised what was hopefully, a record breaking Mile of Balloons Release.
The Birmingham Road from St Giles, right down to St Paul's in Blackheath, was lined with people, who were given balloons to release at Midday. Each balloon had a small card attached (without string) that had a prayer written on it by schoolchildren of the area. The prayers were for the local community.
The Hope project is intended to make a difference to peoples lives and all types of activities and groups are run by the churches. |

| The Race For Life 2008The Black Country Gob Team, consisting of three members Jeullh, Lubberly & MotherHen plus two family members plus The Shifnal Strollers, on the hottest day of the year so far, on the 8th June 2008, took part in The Race for Life. We don't have a final total yet but the amount raised should be in the region of £500.
It was a wonderful experience and we hope to repeat it next year. |

| Mercian Regiment ParadeThe Mercian Regiment on Parade through Dudley Town to receive the Freedom of the Borough from the Mayor in 2008. |

| Liver Birds Gates at Avery SmethwickThe oldest example of the world famous "liver bird", is set in a pair of cast iron gates at the Avery foundry, Smethwick.
Having been damaged during ww2, they were delivered to Avery for repair. the company that sent them for repair was taken over by Avery and from that day to this, they remain in the Black Country. |
